24 October 2016: Papua New Guinean businesswoman, Bosa Togs, was announced as the winner of the 2016 Westpac Outstanding Woman (WOW) of the Year Awards last night.

As the General Manager for IT at Telikom PNG, Bosa has delivered major enhancements to service for customers and is an inspirational mentor to the teams who drive development and innovation at the company. She has stood up against entrenched inequalities in benefits and pay between male and female staff.

Last year Rosa completed two Masters degrees through online study – one in IT and another in Business Administration – at the same time as managing one of the biggest IT projects ever undertaken at Telikom and also maintaining family life and church commitments.

At the annual WOW Awards ceremony at the Gateway Hotel in Port Moresby last night, a “truly humbled” Bosa said she wouldn’t be where she was today without her mother and her late father who “defined me”, also thanking her family, including husband Peter Togs, who was there to support her.

Of the many staff she leads and works with, she said her message is that “it’s not just about being intelligent – it’s about having values”.

On a final note, Bosa – who also won the PricewaterhouseCoopers Private Sector Award – told the assembled guests that the outstanding women selected as finalists this year “are just a sample” and there were ordinary women doing extraordinary things in every field right across the country.

“This award does not stop here,” she vowed. “I will continue to go wherever the Lord takes me to make an impact on young ones.”
